Port Charlotte, FL : Two Port Charlotte residents injured in a crash at Midway Boulevard and Darby Drive on Saturday evening, Oct 3, 2015

Two Port Charlotte residents are in critical condition following a crash Saturday evening.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that Richard McNew, 51, and Leah Hendricks, 50, were injured when their vehicle missed a curve and struck a tree.

Both were trapped in the car before being flown to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The crash occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at Midway Boulevard and Darby Drive.

Charges are pending, according to FHP.
