Marana, AZ : Three people injured after a head-on collision in Marana on Wednesday afternoon, Sep 9, 2015

Three people have been injured as the result of a head-on collision in Marana on Wednesday afternoon.

Capt. Adam Goldberg with the Northwest Fire District tells KGUN9 that units were called to the 8400 block of West Twin Peaks Road after reports of a head-on crash were received.

Two patients were found in a late model Chevrolet pick-up. Both occupants of the truck received critical injuries and required extrication using the jaws-of-life, said Goldberg.

The pick-up was equipped with lap belt restraints and no airbags based on the age of the truck. The driver of the late model pick-up was not restrained, said Goldberg.

The driver, a male in his twenties, was transported by Picture Rocks Fire and the 41-year-old male was flown by medical helicopter to Banner UMC.

The restrained driver of the second vehicle involved is 44 years old and was taken by ground ambulance to Banner UMC.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the accident, said Goldberg.
