One person was killed and another injured in a head-on crash on Boston Post Road in Weston, authorities said.

Weston cops responded to a reported motor vehicle accident near Buckskin Drive about 12:38 p.m., Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan said.

A preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle traveling west on Route 20 crossed into the eastbound lane and struck another vehicle head-on. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, Ryan said, while another was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. A third person was not hospitalized.

Ryan said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
