Memphis, TN: white SUV trying to squeeze through the construction zone slammed into the rear of a dark colored vehicle and injure one man on saturday, 15th November 2014
Tennessee Highway Patrol officers are searching for a hit and run driver who injured a man Saturday morning, near Sam Cooper and I-240.
Officers say around 6 a.m., a white SUV trying to squeeze through the construction zone slammed into the rear of a dark colored vehicle. Upon impact, the second vehicle then hit the back of a highway patrolman's SUV.
Instead of sticking around, the driver who caused the crash sped away.
"Absolutely incredibly bold and they should have stopped," said Lynn Doyle.
Other motorists say they're surprised a driver would take off after causing a wreck that hit a patrol vehicle, but not that someone caused a crash in a construction zone.
"Oh they always speed through every construction zone," said Greg Whitman. "They don't watch the signs."
Investigators haven't yet said whether speed played a role in the crash, which sent one man to the hospital. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time.
No matter the cause, drivers say safety should be everyone's top priority.
"And construction is a little bit confusing but people have to slow down and they have to take caution because not only is their life in jeopardy but other lives may be in jeopardy," added Doyle.
