Motorcyclist dies in collision with big rig near Tulare

A 54-year-old Tulare man riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was killed Monday evening when he collided with a big rig, the California Highway Patrol reported.The crash happened about 6 p.m. The man was riding the motorcycle west on Avenue 192, east of Tulare, behind a Freightliner driven by a Tipton man. Avenue 192 turns into Spacer Drive and shifts to a northern direction, where the incident took place.The CHP said the rider attempted to pass the Freighliner across a double-yellow line as the big rig was making a left turn with its turn signal activated. The front of the Harley struck the big rig. The rider died at the scene.
