Logan, UT : Hyrum man dies in Wellsville SUV bus crash on Monday, September 2, 2017
Two people were transported to Logan Regional Hospital Monday morning after the driver of a Jeep Wrangler attempted to cross U. S. 89/91 from east to west in front of a tour bus as it entered the valley.
Ty T. Hall of Hyrum, 21, was fatally injured at about 9:51 a.m. when the northbound bus struck his vehicle broadside at State Route 23 in Wellsville, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
According to Lt. Lee Perry, a trooper was directly behind the bus at the time of the crash and there was a doctor and a nurse who were were on scene assisting immediately.
Hall was rushed to the hospital but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, Perry said.
The driver of the 2012 bus owned by Arrow Stage Lines suffered an arm injury, but none of the passengers on the bus were injured.
The crash closed both southbound lanes of State Route 91, but troopers were able to use the northbound lanes to send people north and south until about noon.
