MEDINA, OH : Medina man sentenced to four years in crash that left one dead, another seriously injured on Friday, 26th August, 2016

A 24-year-old Medina man was sentenced to four years in prison Friday in connection with a crash that left one man dead and another man seriously injured.

Kory Kuntz pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated vehicle homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, and vehicular assault. The judge also suspended Kuntz's driver's license for 10 years, Medina County Prosecutor Dean Holman said.

"This is a tragic example of how dangerous it is to drink and drive," Holman said. "These were all friends whose lives are forever changed."

Kuntz's blood alcohol level was .196 percent more than twice the .08 percent legal threshold to drive in Ohio when he drove off the side of Foskett Road and slammed his Chevy Silverado pickup truck into a tree in April 2015, Holman said.

Shawn Barre, 25, was thrown from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kuntz and another passenger, who was 22 at the time of the crash, were flown by medical helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
