Volusia County, FL : 27-year-old man died when he slammed into an overpass pillar after a tire fell off on Interstate 4 near DeLand on Tuesday night, April 14, 2015

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old man was killed in a crash on I-4 Tuesday evening.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 7 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-4 in DeLand, FHP said.

According to investigators, one of the tires of a Ford pickup truck separated, causing the driver to lose control. The truck crashed into a pillar that's part of the SR 472 overpass.

The driver, who is from Orange City but hasn't been identified, was taken to Fish Memorial Hospital, where he died.
