BRANFORD, CT : Pickup truck tangles in utility wire, crashes into building in Branford on Monday, 26th September 2016
A pickup truck crashed into a building Monday at 317 East Main St. after becoming lodged on a telephone pole guide wire, police say.
Branford Police and Fire departments responded to the location, which houses a liquor store, around 8:15 p.m.
Lt. Kris Hormuth, who commands the evening shift, said the operator of the truck was in the parking lot and had backed away from the building, when the rear of the truck got caught in the wire.
As the driver, who has not yet been identified, tried to get free from the wire, she accelerated. The truck went forward and struck the building, police say.
The collision caused “significant damage” to the building, according to the release, but no person was injured.
