Gainesville, FL : Motorcyclist dies in crash near 300 NE Waldo Road on Sunday, 26th January, 2020

Gainesville police are investigating a fatal vehicle collision that closed a roadway for several hours Sunday evening.

Christopher Bruce Wilmer, 32, of Gainesville, was traveling north on a motorcycle near 300 NE Waldo Road at about 5 p.m., according to a Gainesville Police press release.

Wilmer’s motorcycle then collided with a sport utility vehicle traveling east on Northeast Third Avenue, the release said.

Wilmer, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital where he later died, said Gainesville Police Chief Inspector Jorge Campos.

The driver was the only person in the SUV during the crash and was not injured, Campos said.
