A Kansas woman was injured in a Grant County accident early Saturday.
The accident, at 2:30 a.m., occurred on U.S. 81 one-tenth of a mile south of the Kansas state line, and 12.8 miles north and 7 miles east of Medford, in Grant County.
The one-vehicle accident occurred when a northbound 1994 Ford Ranger, driven by Mark Aaron Joens (sic), 21, of Caldwell, Kan., failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the road.
The vehicle hit a large sign, spinning the truck around, and it came to a rest on the west side of the roadway, facing south, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Joens was not injured, but Kali Dawn Friend, 18, of Caldwell, Kan., was transported by private vehicle to Caldwell Hospital.
She was then taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kan., where she was admitted for head and trunk internal injuries and is listed in critical condition.
According to the OHP report, the cause of the accident was driving under the influence of alcohol.
