West Lafayette, IN : Driver dies after U.S. 231 crash on Monday, November 14, 2016

Seventy-five-year-old Mary Jo Turley of West Lafayette died after Monday's crash at U.S. 231 and Indiana 26, according to an IU Health Arnett Hospital spokeswoman.

Turley was northbound on U.S. 231 and attempted to turn left onto Indiana 26 just before 6 p.m. She turned into the path of a southbound pickup truck driven by Timothy Ryan, 55, of Lafayette, according to the Purdue News Service, which noted that Purdue police investigated the accident.

Purdue paramedics rushed Turley to IU Health Arnett, where she died, according to Purdue News Service and IU Health Arnett.

Ryan was taken to Franciscan Health Lafayette East, where he was treated and later released, according to Purdue News Service and a Franciscan spokeswoman.

Police closed U.S. 231 and Indiana 26 for about two hours while officers investigated the accident. The road reopened at 8:15 p.m. Monday, according to Purdue News Service.
