Springfield,IL : Illinois man arrested in hit-and-run crash that injured four on may, Wednesday 24th 2017

An Illinois man was arrested after allegedly causing a multi-vehicle crash while impaired Wednesday morning and then fleeing the scene.

Mount Pleasant investigators said the 48-year-old man was driving a Chevy Venture east on Durand Avenue and hit a vehicle stopped for a red light at the intersection with Oakes Road.

“It did not appear that the striking vehicle made any attempt to stop. This caused a chain reaction with a total of four vehicles involved,” Police Sgt. Chris Paulson said in a news release.

That’s when the driver of the Venture took off, Paulson said. Witnesses told officers what the man looked like and he was later arrested on city bus.
