Concord , NC : Man turns self in after serious motorcycle crash in Weddington Road on Friday afternoon, 14th November 2014
Concord Police have charged a man in connection with a hit-and-run accident a few weeks ago that left a motorcycle operator hospitalized with serious injuries.
Just before noon on Saturday, November 8, Concord Police were called to the intersection of Weddington and Rock Hill Church Roads for a hit-and-run accident involving a 2015 Indian Scout motorcycle and a stationary vehicle in the intersection.
Police say the driver of the car left the scene after the crash.
The driver, now identified by police as 52-year-old Lawrence Zerbe, of Reading, Pennsylvania, turned himself in to police on Monday with his attorney.
Concord Police say Zerbe told officers he fled the scene because his driving privileges in North Carolina had been revoked, and that he had a child in the car at the time of the crash who he didn't want to witness his arrest.
Zerbe has been charged with one count of felony hit-and-run and driving while license revoked. Police say there was also an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in a speeding and driving while license revoked matter out of Columbus County in 2005. His bond totals $3000.
The driver of the motorcycle, 52-year-old John Francis Cassidy, of Raleigh, remains in critical condition at CMC Main in Charlotte.
