Grand Junction, CO : Man badly injured in two-vehicle crash on Wednesday 5 October 2016

A two-vehicle accident on the Interstate 70 Business Loop on Wednesday morning resulted in serious injuries for one driver, who was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital.

The man driving a blue Hyundai which turned in front of a tow truck at the intersection with 28 1/2 Road was badly hurt, according to officials.

Grand Junction police officer David Keech said the Hyundai was traveling east on I-70B, when it turned north and struck the westbound tow truck.

“The truck tried to avoid him and went through a fence on the frontage road,” Keech said. “It looks like he turned in front of him right at the last minute.”

The accident, which happened just before 9:30 a.m., forced the intersection to be closed as the debris was cleared and the investigation was completed.

The name and condition of the driver of the Hyundai were not available on Wednesday.
