East Point, GA : Innocent woman killed in crash following police chase on Saturday afternoon, October 18, 2014
An East Point woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a brief police chase through Southwest Atlanta.
29-year-old Tiffany Nicole Madison was the passenger in a car, that police say was hit broadside by a 15-year-old trying to get away from Atlanta Police in a stolen car.
Investigators say the incident began at the intersection of Delowe Dr. and Alison Ct. An Atlanta Police Officer noticed a white Dodge Neon that had been reported stolen. Police say the officer tried to pull the car over, but it's driver would not stop.
The chase only went a few blocks, before the Mustang Madison was a passenger in, pulled on to Delowe Dr and the Neon hit it. The chain reaction crash hit a third vehicle as well.
Five people, including the stolen car suspect, were taken to the hospital. Georgia State Patrol Sgt. James Robillard could not say what conditions they were in.
"Well, when you're running from the police and you kill someone, that's murder here," Sgt. Robillard says. "He's in custody. So we're on our way to do what we need to do with him."
The teenager has been charged with a number of crimes, including murder, theft and DUI. He's being held in the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center.
