Decatur, AL : Boaz man killed in Florette crash on Monday night, July 25, 2016

A Boaz man was killed Monday night when the tractor-trailer truck he was driving left Alabama 67 north of Brewer High School and overturned, Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn said.

Larry McDowell Jr., 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, Chunn said. Chunn was called to the scene at 10:31 p.m. State troopers said the wreck occurred at 10:15 p.m.

McDowell was driving north on Alabama 67 just north of the school when he appeared to leave the road on the right side, Chunn said. The tractor-trailer came to rest upside down, Chunn said, and the truck cab was crushed.

Trooper spokesman Curtis Summerville said McDowell was not wearing a seatbelt.
