Mayfield , NY : 55 - Years old women killed after crashed snowmobile during ride at Great Sacandaga Lake on Friday,January 16th 2015

State police say a 55-year-old Fulton County woman has died after she crashed her snowmobile during a ride on Great Sacandaga Lake.

Police say Brenda Ward of the town of Day was pronounced dead at the scene of the Friday night crash in Mayfield, 38 miles northwest of Albany.

It was unclear what caused Ward to drive into an embankment, leading to the crash. She was traveling with another rider on a separate machine, but that person didn't see the crash.

Ward was the secretary of the Sacandaga Snowmobile Club.
