Three people died in two crashes in Columbus late Wednesday night, police said.
Two people were killed in a crash involving two cars on Interstate 670 Downtown. Another person — a pedestrian — died on Interstate 71 near Polaris.
The pedestrian who was hit was a woman killed by a tractor-trailer about 9:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-71 at Gemini Place, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The I-670 crash was reported at 10:13 p.m. in the eastbound lanes, near the exit ramp to Neil Avenue.
Columbus Fire paramedics pronounced two people dead at the scene just before 10:30 p.m. Two other people were transported in stable condition to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, police said.
The passenger-side of one car was up against the median in the far left passing lane, with a tarp over the front windows, indicating that those who died were still inside. The other car involved was directly behind it.
The eastbound lanes of I-670 remained closed at the Route 315 interchange late Wednesday night.
The names of those killed weren’t yet released in either incident.
