A 76-year-old Perkins woman was killed after a single-vehicle collision Thursday morning about six miles west of Cushing. Officials responding to the scene believe Anna Harper, the driver and only occupant, may have had a cardiac issue that led to the wreck, according to the report.
She was transported by Cushing Fire and Rescue to Cushing Hospital with head, arm, trunk internal and leg injuries and died at the hospital.
According to the report, Harper was driving her 2010 Chevy HHR, when she stopped in the roadway, slumped over the steering wheel. The vehicle then accelerated, exited the roadway to the left and struck a tree. The wreck occurred at around 11 a.m., three-tenths of a mile west of Parotte Road in Payne County. According to the report, it was raining at the time, and Harper’s seatbelt was not in use.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Payne County Sheriff’s Office and Cushing Fire Department responded to the wreck.
