FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI : Fatal car vs. motorcycle crash in the 8600 block of N. Telegraph Road on Saturday, 4th August 2018

Two people died as a result of a car vs. motorcycle accident about 9 p.m. Saturday in the 8600 block of N. Telegraph Road. This area is near Paree and Buhl Roads.
William C. Carpenter, 34, of Monroe, who was operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a report from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The other fatality was Mikyla J. Allen, 28, also of Monroe, whom deputies said was a passenger on the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to Beaumont Trenton Hospital, and later died as a result of her injuries.
Carpenter was northbound at the time of the crash when he was struck by a 2005 Buick Rendezvous that was traveling southbound. The sheriff’s office did not identify the Buick driver by name, but said she was a 33-year-old woman from Newport. The driver was trying to turn left into the Marathon Gas Staion at 8638 N. Telegraph Road at the time of the crash, according to reports. She was not injured.
“At this time, neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash,” deputies said.
Frenchtown Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance also were at the scene.
Telegraph Road in that area was closed to traffic until about 2 a.m. Sunday, according to Michigan Department of Transportation alerts.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7715.
