Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who was run over and killed as a pickup truck driver changed lanes on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Downey on Friday, Feb. 23.
Oleg Urshansky, a 43-year-old resident of Valley Village, was killed in the accident, according to Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office Lieutenant David Smith.
Authorities said the driver of the truck didn’t stop.
The accident was reported about 4 p.m. Friday near on the southbound 5 Freeway, past Lakewood Boulevard.
A 19-year-old man was driving a 1999 Toyota sedan in the left-most lane when Urshansky was riding on a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle, splitting traffic between lanes, according to authorities.
The Toyota driver, approaching the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway interchange, changed lanes to the right, as the motorcycle came up from behind on the right.
Urshansky was ejected from his bike and tumbled into the third lane, where he was run over by the truck, authorities said.
