A 4-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured in a crash early Tuesday morning on Route 11 in Casco.Cameron Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene. His mother, 27-year-old Crystal Peterson, and the driver of the car, 28-year-old Michael Minson, both suffered serious injuries. All three are from Gray.
Minson was listed in satisfactory condition Tuesday afternoon at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Crystal Peterson was taken to Bridgton Hospital and later transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. A spokesman at CMMC said Tuesday afternoon that Crystal Peterson was not a patient at the hospital.
Speed was a factor in the crash just before 6 a.m. on the tight-and-winding road, which is also known as Poland Spring Road, authorities said.
“It’s a bad stretch of road. People speed here all the time. Unfortunately, it’s hilly, it’s curvy, and bad things have happened here,” Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce said.
