STAMFORD, CT : 2 killed, 1 injured in crash on Hope Street in Stamford on Saturday, February 4th 2017
Police are investigating a crash that killed two occupants of a pickup truck and injured one passenger early Saturday morning.
Police said a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 headed north on Hope Street at a high rate of speed. As the truck approached Hartford Avenue, the driver began to lose control and crossed into the southbound lane before skidding into a tree off the west side of the road at the junction of Barnstable Lane, according to Stamford Police Sgt. Andrew Gallagher.
The accident happened at 1:13 a.m., police said.
Police said the 20-year-old driver, a Stamford resident, died in the crash.
A 23-year-old man died hours later after being treated at Stamford Hospital, Gallagher confirmed Saturday afternoon.
A third occupant who was in the back seat, also 20, was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital Saturday.
The names of those involved in the crash were not immediately available.
