Richmond, VA : 19-year-old Maryland man died in I-95 crash near Ashland on Thursday, July 28, 2016

A 19-year-old Maryland man was killed Thursday when a vehicle crossed the center median and was struck by an oncoming pickup truck on Interstate 95 near Ashland, according to Virginia State Police.

Isaiah B. Aronoff of Silver Spring, Md., was ejected from the vehicle that crossed the median and died at the scene, said state police spokesman Stephan M. Vick. Six other people were taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries.

Officers were notified of the crash about 8:10 a.m. Thursday. Police said a 1998 GMC carrying Aronoff and four other people was traveling south on I-95 when it ran off the road to the left, went into the center median and struck the guardrail. The vehicle continued into the northbound lanes of I-95, where it was struck on the passenger side by a 2000 Toyota Tundra carrying two people, according to a news release.
Police are still investigating, and charges are pending.
