Louisville, KY : 1 dead, several injured in Outer Loop accidents early Saturday morning, October 22, 2016

One woman was killed early Saturday morning in the second of a series of hit-and-run accidents near the corner of Outer Loop and Grade Lane.

According to Alicia Smiley, a spokeswoman for Louisville Metro Police, one car was struck in an hit-and-run accident just before 5:30 a.m.

When the driver and her passenger, another woman, got out of the car that had been struck, they were then hit by a passenger truck.

In a release, Smiley said the truck remained at the accident scene but the driver got out of the truck and fled on foot.

One of the women died at the scene and the other was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital.

About the same time, on the other side of the Outer Loop, two cars crashed.

One of the drivers fled that scene, as well.

Smiley said few details were available but injuries in that accident were not thought to be life-threatening.

The Louisville Metro Police don't believe the accidents were related, Smiley said.
