Pasco County, FL : C.R. man not hurt in traffic crash on Wednesday, 29th January, 2020

A 54-year-old Crystal River man was not injured in a two-vehicle wreck early Wednesday morning in Pasco County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report. Donald Pike was traveling eastbound on a Mack Truck on State Road 54 near Mitchell Ranch Road while a Honda Civic driven by Christopher Miller, 33, of Largo, was traveling westbound on SR-54, east of Mitchell Ranch Road. A GMC Yukon, which was unoccupied, was parked in the median east of Mitchell Ranch Road.

According to the FHP report, Miller failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and entered the median. Debris from the impact with the median struck the Yukon, as Miller continued into the eastbound lanes of S.R. 54. Miller entered the path of the Mack Truck and the two vehicles collided nearly head-on.

Miller was transported to a Bayonet Point with serious injuries. Pike was not injured in the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor, the FHP stated in its report. Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
