17-year-old riding a stolen motorcycle was killed o state route 198

A 17-year-old riding a stolen motorcycle was killed Saturday night and the driver of an automobile was seriously injured in a crash on state Rt. 198 in Anne Arundel County. A rider on a second motorcycle fled the scene.

According to county police, Ira Tracy Matthews, 53, of Laurel was making a left hand turn on to Race Track Road at about 10:30 p.m. when his Isuzu was struck by the motorcycle. The driver was ejected and declared dead at the scene. Matthews was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma where he was reported in serious but stable condition.

The name of the victim has not been released. The motorcycle had been reported stolen to Howard County police.
