FAIRFIELD, CA : 3 dead in early morning crash on EB I-80 in Fairfield on Friday, 9th November 2018

Three people in their early 20s were killed in a crash early Friday at eastbound Interstate 80 and Abernathy Road, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The driver was a 20-year-old man from Elk Grove, according to the CHP. There were two female passengers in the car. One was in the front passenger seat, the other in the rear seat.The Solano County Coroner’s Office said they would not release the names until Monday.

A preliminary investigation shows a blue Hyundai left the roadway for an unknown reason at a very high rate of speed, clipped the guardrail and overturned, colliding with a large support pillar for the Highway 12 overcrossing.

The occupants died at the scene. It is unknown if distracted driving, alcohol or drugs were involved, the CHP reports.
