Council Bluffs, IA : Riverton man injured in Fremont County crash on Thursday, February 2nd 2017

A 27-year-old Iowa man was critically injured Thursday when his vehicle overturned on Interstate 29 in southwest Iowa’s Fremont County.

Mitchell Kimpston of Riverton was taken by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, the Iowa State Patrol said. The crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. on I-29 near Thurman.

The patrol said Kimpston was southbound on I-29 when he lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. The Chevy entered the median and overturned, the patrol said, coming to rest in the northbound lanes of 1-29. Kimpston was ejected.

He was listed in serious condition Friday.
