Victoria, TX : Goliad man killed in motorcycle crash off U.S. 59 on Sunday, July 24, 2016

A 44-year-old man from Goliad was killed in motorcycle crash off U.S. 59 on Sunday, authorities said Monday.

The cyclist, James Flores, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Susan Moore.

Sgt. Deon Cockrell, Department of Public Safety spokesman, said the vehicle was a 1997 Harley-Davidson.

No helmet was worn by Flores, Cockrell said.

He said the accident happened at 11:11 p.m. Flores was traveling south when he lost control, causing the vehicle to veer right onto the unimproved shoulder, Cockrell said.

The vehicle hit the ground on its front and left sides, he said.

Cockrell said the driver was thrown from the motorcycle where he received injuries to the head.

Moore pronounced Flores dead at 11:40 p.m., he said.
