Charlotte, N.C : Man arrested, charged with DWI after I-85 crash on Saturday night, February 6, 2016

Troopers said a man was arrested and charged Sunday night with careless and reckless driving, and DWI after he wrecked his car on Interstate 85 northbound Saturday night.

James Goard, 42, has a previous DWI charge and troopers said he is a habitual offender.

Troopers said Goard was driving erratic on I-85 northbound near Statesville Ave. and speeding when he lost control of his car and sideswiped a car in the far left lane. Troopers said Goard then hit the median barrier and overturned roughly six times.

Witnesses said he climbed out of his car and ran into the woods.

Troopers said Goard was severely impaired with drugs and taken to CMC with non-life-threatening injuries.
