Frederick, MD : Kimberly Bohannan dies in crash west of Middletown on Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2016
A Frederick County woman died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Old National Pike.
Kimberly Bohannan, of Frederick, was killed after her Mitsubishi Eclipse collided head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction on Old National Pike near Mount Tabor Road, west of Middletown, according to Maryland State Trooper Adam Oleyar.
The driver of the pickup, Bryan Gabriel, of Washington County, was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown for medical treatment, Oleyar said. Oleyar could not comment on the extent of his injuries except to say he was conscious.
The pickup truck caught on fire, and was “fully engulfed” by the time emergency personnel arrived on scene at about 5 p.m., according to Sgt. Paul Schur, a state police supervisor.
Both lanes of Old National Pike remained closed for several hours after the 5 p.m. crash as Maryland State Police officials continued to investigate.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation as of 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Schur said in a phone interview Saturday night. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
Five fire engines and two ambulances with Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services responded to the accident.
