Mesa, AZ : Search of SUV planned in investigation of hit-and-run accident in which 3-year-old girl died on Sunday, July 6, 2014

Mesa police say they'll be searching an SUV for evidence in the death of a 3-year-old who was struck in an apartment complex parking lot on Sunday.

Police say Jaqueline Monroe-Mendoza was fatally injured when struck by a white Suburban and that they're obtaining a warrant to search a white Suburban found in the same complex.

According to police, a person of interest was interviewed but later released.

Police say the girl had gotten out of the family vehicle after the family returned home from church and that she ran into the path of the SUV, which sped off.
