MANATEE COUNTY, FL : Manatee County fire truck struck at crash scene on Interstate 75 near State Road 64 on Thursday, 22nd August 2019

A Manatee County fire truck is out of service after being struck Thursday by a car, while attending to a crash on Interstate 75 near State Road 64, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Trooper Kenn Watson said the Eastern Manatee Fire Rescue engine arrived ahead of law enforcement and began assisting at the scene of a single-vehicle crash, where a car went off the road into a wooded area.

A Florida Department of Transportation Road Ranger was on scene assisting with traffic control, but a woman, who did not see the fire truck’s activated lights, slammed into the back of the engine. She was taken by Bayflite to Blake Medical Center with significant injuries.
