One person is dead and another is injured after a two-car crash on Big Tyler Road

One person is dead and another is injured after a two-car crash that followed a police pursuit on Big Tyler Road on Wednesday night.
The crash happened at about 7 p.m. in the 4900 block of Big Tyler Road in Cross Lanes, according to a news release from the Kanawha sheriff’s department.
A deputy tried to get the driver of a green Chevrolet Camaro to stop after seeing them driving recklessly, the release states.
Several other drivers swerved off the road to avoid being struck by the Camaro, according to police.
After a chase, that reached 85 miles-per-hour, the deputy decided to stop pursuing the vehicle, the release states.
When the deputy reached the 4900 block of Big Tyler Road, near Klondike Road, he saw the Camaro had struck a Honda Accord head-on.
The Accord landed on its side over an embankment, the release states. The Camaro caught fire.
The deputy was able to help two passengers out of the Camaro and they were transported to CAMC, along with the driver of the Accord.
The driver of the Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.
Big Tyler Road was shut down for several hours after the crash.
