Plano, TX : Plano man arrested on DUI charge after crashing into stop sign at the 2500 block of Creek Road on Sunday, 8th December, 2019

Plano police arrested Zachary Tomac, 22, of the 2500 block of Creek Road, Plano, on charges of driving under the influence after responding to a report of a driver stopped at a stop sign and asleep at the wheel at 4:37 a.m., Dec. 8, in the area of Sears Road and Vilman Road.

In a press release, police said officers woke Tomas up when they made contact with him. According to police, Tomac then drove forward through the intersection of Sears Road and Vilman Road, crashing into a stop sign. Tomac kept his foot on the accelerator, but his vehicle was stuck on the sign, preventing him from driving away, police said.

When Tomac refused to exit the vehicle, officers broke the window of his vehicle and took him into custody.

In addition to charges of driving under the influence, Tomac was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Tomac was later released after posting bond and was given a date to appear in Kendall County Court.
