LaCrosse, FL : Woman, 21, injured in a crash with a truck hauling a flatbed on State Road 121 north of LaCrosse on Thursday, March 26, 2015

A Lake Butler woman was hospitalized with critical injuries Thursday after she crashed into the back of a truck pulling a flatbed on State Road 121 north of LaCrosse, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.

The name of the woman, who is 21, was not released because her family had not been notified of the accident, FHP reported in a press release.

About noon on Thursday, Kelly Warner, 50, of Middleburg was driving a 2015 Mack truck hauling a flatbed trailer south on SR 121 and was slowing to turn right onto Northwest 258th Avenue.

The woman, driving a Hyundai Sonata, was behind the truck and drove into the back of the trailer, FHP reported. She was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital.

Warner was not injured in the accident. She declined to comment to The Sun at the scene.

Kyle Dodgen, who witnessed the accident, said he got debris out of the road and tried to help the woman before an emergency crew arrived.

“Spectators were taking pictures and I'm running them off,” Dodgen said. “One guy was yelling at us for slowing down traffic.”

A woman who lives by the accident scene said speeding is common on that stretch of SR 121 and that three accidents have happened there in recent years.
