A head-on crash killed a Warsaw man Friday afternoon in Kosciusko County.Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency workers responded at 2 p.m. to a report of a head-on vehicle crash on Indiana 15 near County Road 1000 North south of Milford. Responders found the driver of a 2008 Ford Expedition, identified as Luis Antonio Villa Romero, 35, of Warsaw, pinned inside his vehicle, according to sheriff's spokesman 1st Sgt. Chad D. Hill. Lutheran E.M.S. paramedics called for Kosciusko County Coroner Antony Ciriello, who arrived and pronounced Romero dead from blunt- force trauma injuries.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. reconstructionist said a preliminary investigation into the crash has determined that Romero had been traveling southbound on Indiana 15, when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle crossed the center of the road, according to Hill. Romero’s vehicle struck the front of a northbound 2008 Kenworth dump truck that was being driven by another Warsaw man. Officers looked at skid marks and evidence at the crash scene that showed the truck driver had been braking and tried to avoid a collision with Romero, according to Hill.
The crash remains under investigation. The Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was assisted at the scene by the Milford Fire Department, Lutheran Kosciusko E.M.S., Warsaw/Wayne Township Fire Territory, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
