PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL : 1 killed in motorcycle wreck on Back Beach Road on Saturday, 8th October 2016

One person was killed Saturday night in a collision at Back Beach Road and Argonaut Street.

The Panama City Beach Police Department reported the collision occurred about 7 p.m. between a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven by Joseph Haywood, 53, of Opelika, Alabama, and a 2005 Mercury Monterey van. Police said the van was eastbound on Back Beach Road and had entered a break between medians at Argonaut. When the van pulled into the westbound lanes of Back Beach, it entered the path of the motorcycle.

Haywood was ejected from the van when his motorcycle hit his van, according to PCBPD. He was pronounced dead on scene. His passenger and a passenger in the van were transported to a local hospital, and both are listed in stable condition.

No criminal charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
