Rocky Gap, MD : Two seriously hurt in I-68 crash on Sunday, October 30, 2016

Two people were seriously injured Sunday when their vehicle traveled off Interstate 68 eastbound at the 52-mile marker.

Radio broadcasts from the scene indicated one of the victims was thrown from the vehicle and another was trapped inside. The vehicle reportedly came to rest over a steep embankment.

The accident, reported at 4:40 p.m., was on the east slope of Martin's Mountain, according to the Allegany County 911 Center.

Fire and rescue crews from Baltimore Pike, Bedford Road, Flintstone and Cumberland responded along with the Allegany County High Angle Rescue Team.

The eastbound lanes were reopened just after 7 p.m.
