Yakima, WA : Woman, 79, hurt in crash near Sunnyside on Saturday September 17 2016
A 79-year-old Mabton woman was hurt Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 241 and Sheller Road, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The crash between a Jaguar car and a Dodge Ram pickup happened about 1:30 p.m. a mile east of Sunnyside.
Margarita R. Tellez, a passenger in the Jaguar, was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital. An update on her condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
Troopers said the Jaguar, driven by Manuel Tellez, 80, of Mabton, pulled onto the highway from a private drive. The pickup, driven by Alexander J. Valdez, 21, of Pasco, then struck the Jaguar in the southbound lane.
Manuel Tellez was expected to receive a ticket for failing to yield the right of way.
Laura L. Cervantes, 28, of Pasco, was a passenger in the pickup.
All occupants were wearing seat belts, and intoxicants were not suspected of contributing to the crash.
