Virgil , NY : One Child killed and four children injured after drun Driver hit a utility pole while carrying children on Friday ,April 24 2015

Police say a central New York man was driving drunk and speeding when he hit a utility pole and killed a child who was a passenger in his vehicle.

The accident happened at 8:45 p.m. Friday in Virgil.

Sheriff's officials tell the Post-Standard of Syracuse (http://bit.ly/1DKYF0o ) that 29-year-old Daniel A. Haynes III was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a pole.

The sheriff's office says Haynes' car had five passengers including three children ages from 6 to 10.

All of the children were taken to area hospitals. One later died.

Haynes was arrested on charges including aggravated vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment and aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law.

It wasn't known if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
