Yonkers, NY: Motorcyclist killed in I-87 crash in Yonkers on Friday, July 24th 2015
A 22-year-old Bronx motorcyclist was killed Friday in an early morning crash on Interstate 87 near Hall Place, according to state police.The crash occurred just
before 2 a.m. on the southbound New York State Thruway right before the New York City line.The driver of the 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle, identified as Roberto I. Santiago, was driving south on the thruway near McLean Avenue when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck the left concrete median barrier.Santiago, who police said
was operating the motorcycle at a high speed, was thrown off the bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The motorcycle continued approximately one-tenth of a mile
and became engulfed in flames. The Yonkers Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved, police said.The crash was cleared from the roadway before 6 a.m.
