A 41-year-old Ocala man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on North U.S. 301 Thursday evening.

William Davis Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene just north of County Road 329, according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release.

The accident occurred when a southbound 2006 Ford Expedition traveled off the road into the median of U.S. 301 and overturned.

Davis, one of two passengers, was thrown from the sport utility vehicle, according to FHP. The driver, Jeremy Edwards Sr., 36, of Citra, and the other passenger, Jeremy Edwards Jr., 18, of Ocala, received minor injuries.

They were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Troopers said none of the occupants of the SUV were wearing seat belts. Possible charges are pending.
