Austin,TX : Driver dies after crashing into 18-wheeler on may, Thursday 25th 2017

May 26--A 20-year-old man died Thursday morning after crashing his car into the back of an 18-wheeler in Northeast El Paso, police said.

The tractor-trailer was stopped at a red light that had just turned green when it was hit from behind by a Mazda 6 at 3 a.m. on Gateway North Boulevard near Ellerthorpe Avenue, police said.

The driver of the Mazda died at the scene. The truck driver, Juan Guerrero, 48, was not injured, police said.

The name of the driver who died was not immediately released.

Police officials said that the crash was the 18th traffic death of the year, compared with 30 at the same time last year.
