STATEN ISLAND, NY : A Brooklyn-bound crash on Friday, September 1, 2017
A Brooklyn-bound crash on the Verrazano Bridge upper level is causing delays as of 4:22 p.m., according to the MTA.
The crash has left the two left lanes blocked, slowing traffic on the Staten Island Expressway eastbound.
One individual was transported to Richmond University Hospital with minor injuries, according to an FDNY spokesman.
The accident is exacerbating traffic on a getaway Friday that has already seen heavy delays on the Staten Island Expressway westbound since about midday.
Westbound Expressway traffic continues to crawl toward the Goethals Bridge, which also experienced a crash earlier in the day.
For Staten Islanders trying to get around, the unofficial end to summer Fridays is offering up the same New Jersey-bound congestion that has plagued the borough through most of the summer.
