PITTSTOWN, NY : Troopers probing fatal crash in Rensselaer County on Friday, December, 17th 2017
A person from Hoosick Falls was killed as a result of a three-car collision in town, state police said Friday.
Police said troopers started investigating the accident, which happened on Route 7 near Baker Road, at around 11:45 a.m. Friday.
Six other people were transported to local hospitals to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
“All six individuals were restrained by seat belts, which undoubtedly mitigated the seriousness of their injuries and likely prevented additional fatalities,” police said in a news release.
Route 7 was closed for approximately five hours, police said.
Troopers were assisted by the Pittstown and Brunswick Fire Departments, five ambulance companies, the state Department of Transportation and numerous other emergency responders.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
