San Diego, CA : Wrong-way motorcyclist killed in crash with car at 1600 block of Palm Avenue on Sunday, 24th November, 2019

A driver who saw a motorcyclist heading the wrong way and “coming at him," tried to avoid a collision but couldn’t, according to Pembroke Pines police.
The crash happened just before midnight Sunday along the 1600 block of Palm Avenue, south of Taft Street and north of Pines Boulevard.
According to police, Omar Evenor Mendieta, 35, of Hialeah, was operating a black 2014 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound in the northbound lanes of Palm Avenue. Vu Manh Nguyen, 27, of Pembroke Pines — heading north — tried to maneuver the Toyota Corolla he was driving out of the way, but the two collided head-on.
Mendieta died at Memorial Regional Hospital, police said. Nguyen was not hurt.
The investigation is continuing and no reason was given as to why Mendieta’s motorcycle was going in the wrong direction.
