West Chester Twp, OH : 56-year-old man was ejected and killed, two others seriously injured in a three-car crash in Butler County on Saturday, June 4, 2016
Police reported Sunday that speed was likely a factor in the crash that killed a 56-year-old West Chester man Saturday.
Officials said the man, whose identity has not been released, was driving a black Ford Mustang at approximately 5:40 p.m. on West Chester Road near Selkirk Drive when he cross the center line striking a Toyota Corolla head-on.
He was ejected from his car and pronounced dead at the scene, West Chester police spokeswoman Barb Wilson confirmed in a news release.
The occupants of the Corolla, two women from West Chester ages 28 and 45, suffered serious injuries in the crash and were taken to West Chester Hospital for treatment, the release said. The conditions of the women are unknown.
A third car, a Ford Focus, was also struck in in the crash. The occupants of that vehicle suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The West Chester Police Department is investigating the incident, and have not released the identities of any those involved in the wreck.
This was the second fatal accident in Butler County on Saturday. An earlier crash in Reily Township at 4 p.m. in the 5700 block of Reily Millville Road also resulted in a death.
After two vehicles collided, a male passenger was trapped, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office. Emergency crews freed the man, and he was taken to McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford. He was pronounced dead at 5 p.m.
The two female drivers involved in the accident were also injured. One was flown by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with serious injuries, and the other was taken to Fort Hamilton Hospital with minor injuries, according to the sheriff's office.
The identities of those involved in the Reily Township crash have not been released as officials attempt to contact next of kin. The condition of the women is unknown.
